Training Services

At Great Lakes K9 Solutions we offer the following training programs designed to establish and build a long-term, positive relationship with your dog.

In Kennel Training

This program is a great foundation for any dog, young or old. Your dog will spend a minimum of two weeks with us at our facility where they will have their own comfortable, climate controlled room with indoor/outdoor access. During their stay they will learn how to walk on a loose leash, sit and down on command, climb and stay on a bench, and a recall (to come when you call them). We also offer behavior modification for those dogs that have more specific needs. After we have trained your dog, then we get to train you! The day you come to pick up your faithful companion you will have a one-on-one private lesson with your dog’s trainer where we teach you how to maintain everything your dog has learned. This program also includes 4 private lessons.

Refresher Training

For those canine clients who completed one of our training programs and would like to take their education to the next level or refresh the skills they’ve already learned, this program is designed just for them! This service is also great if you are heading out of town and would like your graduate to have a training tune-up while you’re enjoying vacation.

Private Lessons

These lessons are perfect for the dog that already has a solid foundation in obedience, but needs a little help with a specific issue. You and your dog will meet with a trainer at our facility to address your dog’s behavioral needs. Lesson can be purchased as a package for a discounted price.

Day Training

For those clients who can’t bear the thought of being away from their beloved companion for two weeks, or for those that want their dog to learn good manners while they are at work during the day, this program may be the right fit for you. We teach your dog how to walk nicely on a loose leash, sit and down on command, climb and stay on a bench, and most importantly to come when called (the recall). You would drop your dog off  with us in the morning and pick them up every evening. This program also includes two private lessons each week with your dog’s trainer.

Group Classes

We offer a unique, level based system for our group obedience classes. In this program you perform all of the training under our supervision. There are four levels of obedience starting with a free evaluation session. You'll progress through the levels at your own pace, and you have 4 months to complete them. We'll take you and your dog from basic obedience through advanced off-leash training. Classes meet the same day every week, but if you can't make it to a class, no problem! They are designed to allow you to miss when needed and not fall behind. New classes are starting each week. When you sign up for group classes, you also receive two private lessons with this course.

In-home / Off-Site Lessons

A trainer from Great Lakes K9 Solutions will come to your house or meet you in a public setting, such as a park, to work on certain behaviors that only come up in specific situations or environments. Again, this program is best suited for a dog that already has a strong foundation in basic obedience.

Canine Good Citizen Testing & Training

The American Kennel Club developed the Canine Good Citizen Program to promote responsible dog ownership. The CGC test is a standardized test comprised of ten exercises which demonstrate the dog has polite manners in both the home and the community. These classes are designed to prepare you and your dog for the CGC test which we will administer at the end of the course.

Vaccination Requirements

We require all of our training clients to be up to date on their Rabies, Distemper (DHPP or DHLPP), and Bordatella vaccines. We also ask that all dogs are current on their monthly heartworm prevention and a topical flea & tick preventative. This helps to ensure the health and safety of all of our guests.
